Aliotti to Announce He’s Leaving UCLA for Oregon Job

Nick Aliotti, under fire as UCLA’s defensive coordinator much of last season, will announce today he is leaving after one year to return to the University of Oregon.

Aliotti, who spent seven seasons with the Ducks from 1988-94, had been invited by Coach Bob Toledo to remain at UCLA in his current position.

But that also came with the stipulation that there be changes in the way he managed the unit that struggled at times last season.

The Bruins showed improvement toward the end of the season, but surrendering 49 points and 689 yards to Miami on Dec. 5 focused attention again on Aliotti’s work and knocked UCLA out of the picture for the national championship.
