Town Hall Provides Chance to Question Officials

Share

Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard Parks, L. A. County Dist. Atty. Gil Garcetti and City Atty. James Hahn are some of the officials who will answer questions from residents at a West Valley Town Hall meeting Thursday night.

Attendees can ask about land use, public safety and other issues during the public forum, which is organized by the area’s Community Police Advisory Board.

More than 500 people attended the last Town Hall two years ago, said Virginia Huber, the board’s civilian co-chairwoman. An even bigger crowd is expected this year.

Other scheduled officials include Rosemary Melville, acting director of the U. S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, and City Councilwomen Laura Chick and Cindy Miscikowski.

The advisory board was formed in 1993 in response to findings of the Christopher Commission. Seven communities are represented on the board, including Tarzana, Encino, Woodland Hills, West Hills, Canoga Park, Winnetka and Reseda.

The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Manoogian-Demirdjian School, 6844 Oakdale Ave. Parking is free. For information, call (818) 346-8099.
