Xylan Rises
Shares of Xylan Corp. rose 14% amid speculation that the Calabasas-based maker of sophisticated computer-networking equipment may be acquired by a large telephone-equipment maker such as Alcatel of France. Xylan climbed $2.75 to close at $22.63 on Nasdaq. The shares have climbed 23% since last week.
