What’s happening the next few weeks:

* The San Diego Latino Film Festival, March 9-14, will feature movies from Latin America and the United States, including a tribute to Lourdes Portillo, director of “El Diablo Nunca Duerme,” on March 10. The West Coast premiere of “The Buena Vista Social Club,” a documentary by Wim Wenders about Ry Cooder’s trip to Havana to record with local musicians, will screen March 13. Most screenings will be at United Artists Theaters, 475 Horton Plaza, in downtown San Diego’s historic Gaslamp District. $7; $5, student and seniors. Festival pass, $75. * The popular “Mystery of the Mummies” exhibition at the Museum of Man has been extended through Labor Day. It explores the cross-cultural phenomena and methods of preserving the physical human form after death, and includes mummies from Egypt, Mexico and Peru. * Storyteller, actress and comedian Lisa Kron performs “Lisa Kron’s 2 1/2 Minute Ride,” March 2 at 8 p.m. The three true tales on her program are an annual family pilgrimage to the amusement park; her journey to Auschwitz with her father, a Holocaust survivor; and her brother’s Internet bride.
