Joining the Bandwagon: Chase Manhattan Corp. introduced a service allowing consumers to access their bank accounts and pay bills over the Internet, becoming the last of the nation’s seven largest banks to do so. Chase, the nation’s second-largest bank, has offered online services since 1997, but customers had to use the bank’s software and couldn’t bank over the Web, which offers consumers access from virtually any computer without the need to maintain software.
