Monument Valley Plea
To those in the motion picture industry who have used Monument Valley, Utah, as a location for countless westerns, to the viewers who have enjoyed those films, and to those who have been awed while traveling through the area:
The gifted but economically depressed students at Monument Valley High School are badly in need of camera, darkroom and video equipment for a photography program I have volunteered to teach this spring. Despite their hardships, these kids, 97% of whom are Navajo, are full of energy, determination and creative talent.
