PEPPERDINE (8-6) at SAN JOSE STATE (7-5), 7:30 p.m., KKLA-FM (99.5)--In its final nonconference game, Pepperdine takes on a team that has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under first-year Coach Phil Johnson, who took over a program that was 3-23 last season. Pepperdine lost Wednesday night to Siena, 85-76, after being outscored, 11-1, in the final 3 1/2 minutes of the Sparkletts Invitational final at Malibu. One bright spot for the Waves was the play of forward Marc McDowell, who made his first two starts of the season and was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 13 points against Rhode Island and 18 against Siena.
