Loyola Marymount 92, California Baptist 79--Willie Allen scored 17 of his career-high 27 points in the second half, and reserve Tim Kennedy added 18 as the Lions won at home.

Elton Mashack had a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double for the Lions (5-7), who outscored the Lancers, 57-45, in the second half after leading by one point at halftime.

Haywood Eaddy added 12 points and five assists for Loyola Marymount, which blew open the game by going on an 11-1 run to take a 56-45 lead with 13 minutes left.

The Lions led by as many as 19 points before Cal Baptist rallied to within 13 points with 2:26 to play, but that was as close as the Lancers would get.

Desmen Granger and Aaron Proffitt led Cal Baptist (9-6) with 16 points each. Granger had seven rebounds and Proffitt had six. Chris Harvey, Ham McCoy and Mark Kepler had 12 points apiece for the Lancers, an NAIA school playing NCAA Division I Loyola for the first time.

Loyola scored the game’s first 11 points, but Cal Baptist battled back and led, 34-32, before the Lions scored the final three points of the first half. The Lancers never led after that.
