Loara’s Jordan Bollenbacher, who normally wrestlers at 112 pounds, moved up a weight class to 119 Thursday night and helped the fourth-ranked Saxons to a 35-22 victory over Katella in Empire League wrestling.

Bollenbacher, who’s ranked third in the county at 112, took an 8-2 lead in the first period of the 119-pound match and held on to defeat Edan Tapia, 13-10.

Loara is 4-0, 2-0.

In the Garden Grove League:

Santiago 48, Rancho Alamitos 27--Miguel Ponce of Santiago defeated Nathan Freitas, 10-8, in the 130-pound match and Brian Thomas outscored Jason Figueroa of Rancho, 15-13, in the 152-pound class. In the Golden West League:

No. 1 Santa Ana 43, Ocean View 32--Ocean View took a 10-9 lead on a forfeit and major decision, but Harold Rubio (130 pounds) earned a pin in 2:36 to tie the score for Santa Ana and Eric Beltran (135) followed with a pin in 1:38 to give Santa Ana (8-0, 2-0) a lead it would not relinquish.

Except for one wrestler, Santa Ana’s team was made up of the junior varsity squad.

“We’re getting ready for Five Counties this weekend,” Santa Ana Coach Scott Glabb said. “But that’s actually a small reason why the varsity took the night off. It has more to do with letting some of our younger kids get some varsity experience, which is great for them.”
