No More Bull: Readers Get Their Last Shots at Jordan

For me, what set Babe Ruth apart was his ability to rise to the occasion. The first game in Yankee Stadium? Babe hit a home run to win it. The first All-Star game? Babe hit a home run to win it.

Babe Ruth was truly the Michael Jordan of baseball.

David Stern brought me back to my childhood when he “begged” Michael Jordan not to retire. When I was a boy and I used to beg under those circumstances, I was told things like, “You should have thought of that before you locked the players out.”

Am I the only one to see the upside of Michael Jordan’s leaving the game of basketball? Sure, he was a goodwill ambassador for the game. Sure, he went out a champion.

But I am so tired of seeing him all over the place--billboards, magazines, clothing and even cologne! I was wondering if it would ever stop.

No more three-peats! No more, one for the thumb! It’s time for another team to actually win a championship this decade. Can you believe it? Another team in the finals, another champion.

Jordan did wonders for the league. It’s about time someone else got a chance.

Michael Jordan picked the perfect time to retire. He has accomplished all his goals and has nothing else to prove, especially in a 50-game season. The greedy NBA owners, players and union do not deserve Michael Jordan any longer. He now belongs to the NBA Hall of Fame.

See you on the links, Michael.

Now that the greatest player ever has retired, the question that concerns me is not, “Will the NBA suffer without him?” The big question is, “What will Ahmad Rashad do?” Will he retire too? Let’s hope so.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete ever. I love him too. But if I remember correctly, the “world’s greatest athlete” couldn’t hit “Uncle Charlie”--a major league curveball--a few years back.
