COLOMA--Share the excitement of Gold Discovery Day on Saturday, Jan. 24. Performers will reenact the day in 1848 that James Marshall plucked gold out of Sutter’s Mill. SAN DIEGO--The San Diego Bay Bird Festival will focus on the feathered crowd Jan. 29-31. On Jan. 29, early birds will flock for breakfast, 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m., at the Marina Vista Room community hall, 825 Imperial Beach Blvd. in Imperial Beach ($8). Jan. 30-31, free activities include an Exhibit Fair 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Mar Vista High School, live bird presentations and field trips to bird habitats (space limited; pick up free tickets at the school, Third and Elm streets). INDIO--Artists from throughout the Southwest will show and sell fine arts and crafts inspired by the region at the Southwest Arts Festival, Jan. 29-31.
