Newspaper Carrier Found Shot to Death in His Car
A 45-year-old newspaper carrier was found shot to death in his car Monday morning, police said.
Officers found Huong Ngoc Tran about 7:30 a.m. in the back seat of his gray 1985 Nissan Maxima in an alley just west of the 1200 block of Walnut Avenue, Officer Jana Blair said. Tran, who authorities said had been shot once in the upper body, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tran was last seen leaving the offices of the Long Beach Press-Telegram about 4 a.m. with the daily papers for his route, Blair said. He was not carrying any money, and investigators are unsure of a motive, she said.
