With No. 1 Connecticut facing a five-point halftime deficit, Richard Hamilton led a 16-6 second-half run and scored 27 points as the Huskies, 18-0 overall and 10-0 in the Big East, picked up a 78-71 victory over Georgetown (9-10, 2-8) at Washington. . . . Marcus Hill made four three-point shots and finished with 15 points as Tulsa (16-5, 4-2) raced to a 72-62 Western Athletic Conference victory over No. 24 Texas Christian (15-5, 3-3) at Tulsa, Okla.

Michele Van Gorp scored 26 points to lead No. 11 Duke (16-4, 9-0) to a 92-75 win over Florida State (6-12, 1-8) in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s game at Tallahassee, Fla.

Florida (14-3) made its first appearance in the Associated Press men’s poll in four years, using convincing victories over Louisiana State and Tennessee to slide in at No. 25. Connecticut held the No. 1 spot for the ninth consecutive week.
