Los Angeles police released a composite sketch Thursday of the so-called Southside burglar, who is wanted in a series of residential burglaries in Encino.

The burglar has hit as many as 39 homes since September in Encino hills, south of Ventura Boulevard and between the San Diego Freeway and White Oak Avenue. He has taken an estimated $500,000 worth of jewelry and cash, said Lt. George Rock of the LAPD’s West Valley Division.

The man is described as a clean-cut Asian; 24 to 30 years old; about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 170 to 190 pounds, Rock said.

He was seen by a gardener at one of the burglarized homes wearing a blue jogging suit with white sneakers, leading police to believe he may be masquerading as a jogger, Rock said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (818) 756-8553.
