School Safety
* Re “Teacher’s Aide Stabbed Across From Campus,” Jan. 22.
I am outraged at the statement by Socorro Serrano, Los Angeles Unified School District spokesman, that a teacher’s aide, stabbed in a parking lot across the street from the school where she worked, was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
To be in a deserted, gang-controlled alley at 2 a.m. is to be in the wrong place at the wrong time--not across from a school where you work, during school hours.
Perhaps Serrano would also like to inform us that the aide’s clothing was provocative! Bad enough that our Olympian school district cannot protect its employees, without blaming the victim.
