Re “Special Unit Goes After ‘Hoodlum’ Canines,’ ” June 25.
Your headline describing stray dogs being rounded up by animal control officers as “hoodlum canines” marked the wrong species!
The real hoodlums are the irresponsible, uncaring owners of those dogs who have indirectly sentenced their pets to what is likely a short and tragic future. While we search for answers to understand why society is engulfed in growing violence and unrest, a simple truth still evades many of us: that until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, we will never find peace.
