After being sent to the back of the field for two failed starts, Darren Young charged to the front to win the Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge in front of 2,565 at Irwindale Speedway on Friday.

Young was on the front row with Larry Partin but two bad starts to the 50-lap race sent both men to the rear of the field.

Polesitter Tony Green grabbed the lead from Richard Franz on the opening lap and appeared on his way to victory. But on lap 33, Green pulled off with mechanical failure giving the lead to Ron Peterson.
