* Update--Valdes has a 26-13 career record and 2.94 ERA after the All-Star break, but it appears the right-hander’s annual second-half surge began a little early--after a career-high five-game losing streak, Valdes gave up only one run on 11 hits in 14 innings of his last two starts, wins over San Francisco and Seattle. Olivares has been the Angels’ best starter this season, but he had his worst inning of the year against the Dodgers on June 4, giving up five runs on five hits, including Jose Vizcaino’s home run, in the fourth inning of a 5-4 Angel loss.
