Big-Rig Driver Dies in Crash on Interstate 5
LOS ANGELES —
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 49-year-old big-rig driver in a crash early Monday on southbound Interstate 5, where lane closures in both directions resulted in a traffic backup of nearly a mile, officers said.
Jagtar Singh Gill was driving in the No. 4 lane about 1 a.m., when he swerved to the left and struck a pillar at the Zoo Drive crossing about 55 mph, said Officer Jordan Van Meter, a CHP spokesman.
