Chapman University will be the site of a community discussion Thursday regarding the possible conversion of the closed El Toro Marine base to an international airport.
“This discussion is to make North County understand that an international airport is an important item for them also,” said Marion Pack, an event organizer. Orange Councilman Mike Alvarez and Irvine Councilman Larry Agran will attend. Pack said a consultant will present a plan that envisions the land as a park, a sports center, a technical school and a community college while keeping a portion undeveloped. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the university’s Irvine Lecture Hall, Science Building, 333 N. Glassell. Information: (949) 722-7574.
