Westcorp: The Irvine financial services holding company whose principal subsidiaries are WFS Financial and Western Financial Bank, reported record net income of $12.8 million, or 48 cents a share, for the second quarter, compared with net income of $618,000, or 2 cents a share, for the same period last year. The company attributed the improved results to lower credit losses on automobile contracts. Total assets grew 26% to $4.8 billion from $3.8 billion.
