LAGUNA NIGUEL
The City Council voted 5 to 0 Tuesday to install lights at the main ball field at Niguel Hills Middle School. The lights will remain on until 9:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday to accommodate increased demand for practice space for youth soccer and softball players. But the council also added conditions to its decision to reassure residents concerned about noise and light spillover: No play will take place Sundays, and city staff will review sound barrier options.
