Other Than a Few Things, Sports in Great Shape
Roberto Alomar spits on an ump and gets a slap on the wrist. Latrell Sprewell, Lawrence Phillips, no further explanation required (let’s throw Mike Tyson in this category too). The NFL holds L.A. hostage for taxpayer money. With ticket prices going up, only other pro athletes can afford to attend sporting events. Briana Scurry claims that “Everybody does it. It’s only cheating if you get caught.” My tax money going to scholarship players at UCLA who weren’t quite smart enough not to get caught (maybe their handicap is being mentally challenged).
There is no such thing as sportsmanship anymore. These people are sending the wrong message, but who cares? They are gods/heroes. They will go on with their lives, making big money and placed on a pedestal for all to admire and emulate. Sports . . . who needs it?
