Freeway Driving
About 10 years ago I stopped driving the freeways, as it was getting too congested and had more crazy drivers. But yesterday I needed to get somewhere in a hurry, so I took the Ventura Freeway.
I only had to travel 12 miles, but was I ever delighted to get off. Everybody was driving at speeds of 80 to 90 mph, changing lanes without signals, tailgating, and if there was a space in front of a car just big enough for a go-cart, some nerd would push in, forcing the car behind to brake hard. It was near mayhem.
They say Southern California has too many people. Well, if the traffic on the freeways continues as it has, all the crazies will kill off the good drivers (a minority) and then kill themselves. The freeways will be empty. No need for new subways, buses or transportation.
