* Update--The depth of the teams comes into play tonight, each being without three starters. The Galaxy is missing defender Robin Fraser and winger Cobi Jones, both at the Confederations Cup, in which the U.S. plays Brazil tonight in Guadalajara. In addition, defensive midfielder Danny Pena is serving a one-game suspension for accumulated yellow cards. The Rapids are missing defender Marcelo Balboa, midfielder Matt McKeown and forward Paul Bravo, all three with the U.S. team in Mexico. Colorado leads the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Galaxy will face the Columbus Crew in a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match August 11 at Cal State Fullerton and play host to Mexico’s Necaxa in a CONCACAF Champions Cup qualifier August 18 at the Rose Bowl, the team said.
