A weekend swap meet will return to the former Orange Drive-In site on North State College Boulevard, the City Council voted Tuesday. Conditions made for Pacific Theatres, operators of the swap meet, include terminating the swap meet in two years, reimbursing the Police Department about $50,000 each year for services and assisting the city in its efforts to find a “higher and better” vision for the land. Jay Swerdlow, executive vice president of Pacific Theatres, estimates the swap meet will open by February and will provide the city with more than $25,000 in sales tax each year.
