From Times Wire Reports

After company negotiators submitted a new economic offer, talks between the Teamsters and companies hauling new cars were extended for 24 hours despite a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. EDT today. Earlier, as the talks continued through the Memorial Day holiday, negotiations stalled over management proposals to establish a lower pay scale for newly hired drivers and permit hiring of part-time workers. The contract covers about 12,800 drivers, mechanics, rail yard and office workers.
