Big Inning Lifts Cleveland
Vince Zuniga hit a two-out, three-run home run to cap a 10-run sixth inning that carried Cleveland High to a 13-5 victory over top-seeded Carson in a City Division semifinal baseball game Tuesday at El Camino College.
Zuniga, whose homer cleared the scoreboard in right-center field, finished four for four with five runs batted in for the Cavaliers (14-15), who will play Huntington Park (23-9), a 4-1 winner over Palisades, in the final at 4 p.m. Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
Jason Wigginton of Cleveland allowed one hit through three innings but was roughed up for five runs in the fourth, when Carson (18-15-1) took a 5-3 lead.
Catcher Tony Cicero (5-1) relieved Wigginton and allowed only one hit in the final 3 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking none.
