The H. P. Wright, Fillmore and Ray D. Preuter libraries are recruiting volunteers to staff their summer reading program information desks.
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and commit to two hours a week for five weeks. All volunteers will be trained.
The free reading program, “Catch a Dragon by the Tale,” encourages children to enhance their reading skills during vacation, and runs from June 14 to Aug. 13. Each year, about 8,000 youths participate.
For information, call Joel Goldberg of H. P. Wright in Ventura at 642-0337, Louise Adaikkalam of Fillmore at 524-3355 or Patty Schafer of Ray D. Preuter in Port Hueneme, 486-5460.
The county library system is also seeking volunteers to work in the community relations office at the Ventura County Government Center.
Volunteers will help maintain a historical file and perform clerical work. For information, call volunteer coordinator Trish Cavanaugh at 662-6757.
