Forget about Britney Spears’ overexposed assets. Here’s some real teenage action. With its scorching, metal-flavored punk-pop originals, this under-21, Palo Alto-based quartet runs roughshod over malls, malt shops and movies, leaving in its wake scandalized cops, irritated neighbors and slack-mouthed lads who can’t possibly endure the raw-power scorn of such estrogen-fueled rampages as “Zero.”

The four Donnas piqued rock-press attention last year with their sweet faces, knowing smiles and freewheeling blend of metal-guitar flourishes, Ramones-style bouncy punk and Shangri-Las mock innocence. Goosed by streamlined production from Jeff and Steve McDonald of Redd Kross, their third album (due Tuesday) amps up the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll quotient with a rebellious humor that’s both dead serious and totally fun.

The earlier works were a bit coy, but this collection revels in a Runaways-esque bad-girl mind-set, getting kicks out of man-stealing (“Party Action”) and back-seat driving (“Get You Alone”), while mellowing only to put a brave face on a broken heart (“You Don’t Wanna Call”). If the version of Motley Crue’s “Too Fast for Love” is unfortunately tepid, “Skintight” has more than enough oomph to knock every modern teenybopper act right on its well-choreographed butt.
