Smaller Cities

* I don’t necessarily buy into the special business interests of the secession movement, Valley VOTE (Voters Organized Toward Empowerment), but I really think twice when I compare the quality of life in the smaller cities surrounding Los Angeles.

On Memorial Day weekend, I visited Pasadena for its jazz festival, a wonderful family event for all. I visited Oak Park in Ventura County, an idyllic community from which Los Angeles workers commute. Hermosa Beach had its annual Memorial Day festival. Santa Monica was on the evening news for its pier and holiday attractions.

Maybe the mayor or City Council can answer why it seems that these smaller cities have more budget to spend on the quality of life for the average citizens. This is my perception, and perception is truth.
