Improv ‘ComedySportz’ to Celebrate 10th Anniversary at Alex Theatre

“ComedySportz Los Angeles,” the improvisational comedy show that features teams going head-to-head in comedy improv matches--with a referee to oversee the action--will have its 10th anniversary gala on June 26 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. The fund-raising evening will benefit the company’s official charity, Gilda’s Club, a support community for people with cancer, named for the late comedian and “Saturday Night Live” star Gilda Radner.

The evening will include an all-star celebrity round of team “ComedySportz,” with veteran comedians and actors led by Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson) and Wayne Brady (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?”).

“ComedySportz Los Angeles,” headed by James Thomas Bailey and based at Hollywood’s Tamarind Theatre, is one of 22 comedy teams nationally, offshoots of the national “ComedySportz” show founded in Milwaukee in 1984 by “Kentucky Fried Theatre’s” Dick Chudnow.
