Thick, juicy and filling, the reuben is balm to the ravenously hungry. This irresistible assembly of meat, cheese and sauerkraut, packed between slices of rye bread and then grilled, is a true indulgence.

* Kincaid’s Bay House: At lunch, the new steak and chop house on Fisherman’s Wharf in Redondo Beach serves what it calls a “really thick and sloppy chicken reuben.” That’s with sauerkraut, grilled corned chicken breasts, avocado and melted Jack. * The Nosh: Known for its generous portions, this Beverly Hills place serves two reubens, a standard corned beef model and a corned beef and pastrami reuben, both with sauerkraut and Swiss cheese with dressing on the side. * Langer’s: Work downtown? Take the Metro to lunch--there’s a stop right by this landmark deli, home of the best pastrami in town. Langer’s has two reubens: the “normal” one with corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut, and the more popular version made with pastrami, sauerkraut, American cheese.
