Bodies of Slain Girls Are Released for Burial
The bodies of the two Lynwood teenage girls who were shot to death as they walked to school Tuesday were released Friday by the coroner’s office to a Lynwood mortuary.
Funeral services are expected next week for Olivia Munguia, 17, and Jessica Yvette Zavala, 15, according to family members. During the shooting, Olivia sustained multiple gunshot wounds while Jessica was struck by a single bullet to her chest, said coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier.
No arrests have been made but sheriff’s investigators still want to talk with Juan Manuel Casillas, a Lynwood resident, about his possible relationship with one of the victims, said Elisabeth Sachs, a sheriff’s spokeswoman
A fund has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses. Donations can be made to Zavala Family, Banco Popular, 11277 S. Atlantic Ave., Lynwood, CA 90262. Friends of the family will hold a carwash today at 8 a.m. in the Lynwood High School parking lot at 4050 E.Imperial Highway.
