Burbank Airport
Re “Burbank Airport Plan Near Takeoff,” June 6.
If the old Burbank Airport terminal now has 190,000 flights annually that’s 520 flights per day average. If the new terminal allows 283,000 flights annually that’s 775 flights per day. That would mean 225 more flights per day, a 49% increase.
Surely this can’t be a serious proposal. I live in Sherman Oaks and some days there is hardly a peaceful moment because we are also affected by Van Nuys Airport.
How about building a nice new terminal at Burbank, capping the number of flights where it is, and then working to reduce that number by building a new airport to the north of the Valley where most of the population growth is. This makes more sense than drawing more people into this overcrowded area.
On the other hand, if the goal is to make the East Valley unlivable, this plan is a winner.
