Harassment Case Against LaDucer May Be Settled

Share

A sexual harassment trial involving former Orange County Assistant Sheriff Dennis LaDucer was halted Wednesday, a day after it began, giving a strong indication that the parties may settle.

If an agreement is reached, it would be the third such resolution in five sexual harassment lawsuits filed in Orange County Superior Court against LaDucer in 1997 and 1998.

Two women who accused the once high-ranking sheriff’s official of making lewd comments and groping female department employees settled their cases in March for $325,000 each.

The trial halted Wednesday involves a civilian employee who in 1997 accused LaDucer of leering at her and threatening her when she rebuffed his advances.

Two remaining cases are still pending.

Attorneys for the parties declined to comment.
