About 65 Orange County high school junior boys will leave late tonight from Orange for a week’s stay at Cal State Sacramento to set up a mock government as part of the American Legion Boys’ State program. “We feel this gives young people a feeling of participating and being responsible for democracy,” said local American Legion spokesman Jim Shaffer. During their stay, the boys will form political parties, elect a governor and tour the state Capitol. A total of 955 boys from across the state will make the trip. The program is in its 62nd year.
