Ventura High School has received a $59,000 school-to-career grant for the 1999-2000 school year, officials announced this week.
The grant will fund two school-to-career coordinators, who plan to develop job shadowing, mentoring and internship activities for high school students.
Teachers Rita Darling and Anne Campbell, who will head the program, will also organize staff development and career awareness activities.
School-to-career programs are designed to introduce students to the world of work by giving them hands-on experience and job counseling.
Cabrillo Middle School and Lincoln Elementary School will also receive funds for similar programs. Additionally, Simi Valley, Santa Paula, Channel Islands and Royal high schools were recently awarded such grants.
