Good Morning, It’s the Internet Calling

Share

It used to be that a wake-up call was a luxury only available to guests staying at hotels. But now there’s a free Internet service called MrWakeup.com (https://www.mrwakeup.com) that lets users schedule wake-up and reminder calls to be delivered to their telephones any time, anywhere.

Calls offer local time, date and temperature, as well as several other options you can customize. Perhaps you would like to open your eyes to a motivational message, your horoscope, headlines or financial news?

The service can send a reminder of a favorite television show or an important appointment. Personal messages may also be sent. (“How’s the diet going?” comes to mind.)

MrWakeup.com is free, but all calls do contain an advertisement. Joining MrWakeup (which only requires providing demographic information about yourself to be used for advertising purposes) allows users to take advantage of added features not available to nonmembers.

These features include the option to schedule calls for up to two years in advance (if you are really organized) and an online calendar to see the days for which you have scheduled calls.

In the future, MrWakeup plans to allow users to get calls on voice-mail pagers and to sign up for e-mail notification by telephone.
