* The Building Owners & Managers Assn. awarded 1999 Building of the Year Award honors to three Los Angeles area projects. Thatcher Medical Center in Pasadena, which is managed by Corland Carlson, won in the medical office building category. Maguire Partners’ MGM Plaza in Santa Monica won for suburban office parks. The Richard H. Chambers Court of Appeals Building in Pasadena took first place in the government building category. The buildings were judged on a variety of criteria, including impact on the surrounding community, tenant and employee relations programs and energy management systems.
