At Least Dodger Fans Haven’t Quit (Writing)

Dodger mentality--It’s only June 19, we’re five games below .500, so what’s the hurry, it’s not August, we’re trying too hard, we’re pressing, you know how it is.

Sorry, I really don’t know how it is. What other profession could a person say I’m trying too hard and get away with it? “I’m trying too hard to be a mechanic, a teacher, a doctor, a parent . . .”

You non-faithfuls say the Dodgers are underachievers. Not! They are overachievers and prove that with hard work you can attain your goals. They jumped over the Rockies and will not give up until they overcome the Padres.

The only glue left in the Dodger organization is Vin Scully. Without him, the fans could not stand for this decimation. He is the only heritage left. He works on a one-year contract.

Please Vinny-Wan Kenobi, you’re our only hope!

Where I once heard sweet organ music from Helen Dell and Nancy B. Heffley at Dodger Stadium, I now hear AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black.” I used to laugh when I visited other stadiums, and heard their gimmicky music. Now at Chavez Ravine I hear shades of Qualcomm and 3Com in my ears as Devon “Devo” White steps to the plate while they play Devo and “Whip It.” Oh, ha ha, I get it. The guy’s nickname is “Devo” and they’re playing a song by “Devo.”

Hey, that’s really cool. I hope they are roping in the teen crowd with that, playing a song that came out before today’s teens were even born.

Two thoughts about the Dodgers have occurred to me.

1. The organist should play “Nearer My God to Thee” not “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

2. Why couldn’t Murdoch have bought the Giants instead?

I would like to thank Fox Sports West for taking the Dodgers off the cable in July. The way they are playing now, I’d rather watch reruns of “My Little Margie.”

They might have died more than 50 years ago, but Hack Wilson and Babe Ruth were recently awarded additional RBIs and walks. That means they are still more productive than the Dodger offense.
