Boston Scientific Corp., one of the biggest makers of devices used in the artery-clearing procedure called angioplasty, said a court ruled in favor of a Guidant Corp. unit in a patent lawsuit against Boston Scientific. The company said the U.S. District Court for the northern district of California found that Boston Scientific’s Bandit catheter violates a Guidant patent. The ruling was on a motion for summary judgment filed by Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, a division of Guidant. Boston Scientific said that trial on remaining issues is slated to start in February. On the NYSE, Natick, Mass.-based Boston Scientific shares closed down 56 cents at $40.44, and Indianapolis-based Guidant closed down 31 cents at $48.94.
