Antonio McDyess scored 46 points, tying Grant Hill and Allen Iverson for the most in an NBA game this season, as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Vancouver Grizzlies, 116-112, Sunday night at Denver.

McDyess’ points, as well as his 19 rebounds, were career-highs. McDyess was 16 for 25 from the field and 14 for 18 on free throws.

“I was getting easy layups, easy dunks and got those shots because they weren’t doubling me,” McDyess said.

The Nuggets also got two three-pointers by Chauncey Billups in the last minute to hold off Vancouver.

Utah 101, San Antonio 87--Karl Malone scored 30 points and Jeff Hornacek and John Stockton added 18 and 14 points, respectively, as the Jazz maintained its league dominance with a victory over the inconsistent Spurs at San Antonio.

Tim Duncan had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Spurs, but David Robinson had only eight points.

Spur Coach Gregg Popovich was slapped with two technicals and ejected with 2:06 left in the third quarter.

Phoenix 102, Golden State 89--The Suns trailed by 15 with 5 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter and by seven entering the fourth, but the Warriors scored only six points in the fourth quarter at Phoenix.

It was the lowest-scoring quarter in Warrior history, and ties the NBA record for fewest fourth-quarter points. The Warriors didn’t score for the first 7:13 of the quarter and were two for 21 from the field.

After a slow start, Jason Kidd had 17 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds for the Suns.

Portland 100, Minnesota 93--Rasheed Wallace made his first six shots en route to a season-high 22 points as the Trail Blazers handed the Timberwolves their first home loss of the season.

Wallace, starting for only the third time this season, made 10 of 14 shots and added six assists before fouling out with 2:03 to play.

Miami 84, Orlando 78--The Magic blew a 20-point lead in losing at Miami, and afterward Penny Hardaway launched an attack on NBA officiating.

“I haven’t said one thing about the refs in my six years in Orlando, but I’m tired of it,” said Hardaway, who went three for 14 from the field. “This is really ridiculous. I go three for 14 and half of those shots are plays where I get fouled and it isn’t called. My stats are awful because of this stuff.”

Philadelphia 87, Milwaukee 76--Allen Iverson had an off day shooting, making only eight of 24 shots, but he made nine of 11 free throws as the 76ers won at Milwaukee. The 76ers were 23 for 34 from the foul line, the Bucks seven for 12.

Detroit 89, New York 68--Joe Dumars continued his hot streak with 21 points to lead the Pistons over the Knicks at Auburn Hills, Mich.
