The Walt Disney Co., which earlier this year recalled millions of copies of “The Rescuers” video because of a fleeting image of nudity, announced Thursday that it is recalling another product: improperly wired Mickey Mouse waffle irons.

The voluntary recall of more than 1,300 electric waffle irons is due to the possible hazard of fire, shock or electrocution. Disney had one report of a waffle iron catching fire at a wall socket. No injuries or damage were reported.

The irons were made by a former Disney licensee, Vitantonio Products, which is no longer in business. The iron is chrome and black with a Mickey Mouse face for the cooking surface. It sold for about $60 from October 1996 to January 1997.

Customers who participate in the recall will receive a $70 gift voucher for products in the Disney catalog.

The recall was announced jointly by Disney and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In January, Disney recalled 3.4 million copies of the animated video “The Rescuers” because the photographic image of a woman’s nude torso was inserted into a couple of frames of the film.
