Judge Blocks New English-Only Law

An Alaska judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking a new law that requires state and local agencies to conduct all their business in English. The ruling comes in response to a suit by 30 plaintiffs, mostly Eskimos, who filed two lawsuits challenging the law as a violation of their constitutional rights to free speech, equal protection and due process.
