Firefighters to Burn Buildings in Exercise
The Ventura County Fire Department will set several Simi Valley buildings ablaze beginning today to practice firefighting techniques.
The burning buildings, which were already scheduled for demolition, will produce smoke that may be visible from California 118 in Simi Valley, authorities said. The smoke is not, however, expected to affect the air quality of nearby areas, officials said.
The training, which will include rescue operations, will continue through March 15 during daylight hours.
