Student Essay Contest to Focus on Education

Share

Assemblyman Bob Hertzberg (D-Sherman Oaks) is sponsoring an essay contest for San Fernando Valley high school students to raise their awareness about education issues.

The essay topic is: “If you were governor, how would you improve California’s schools?”

“With the Legislature meeting in special session about education, it seemed like a good time to foster dialogue with students,” said Hertzberg’s spokesman, Paul Hefner.

The grand prize winner will be flown to Sacramento to spend a day observing Hertzberg at work, Hefner said. The date of the trip will be arranged with the winner.

The deadline is March 19. Entries should be 750 words or less. Each entry must include the student’s name, address, phone number and high school.
