Students Honored for Scholastic Success
More than 200 students at Channel Islands High School were honored for their outstanding scholastic performance during the school’s recent academic awards banquet.
Assistant Principal Kristopher Wong served as master of ceremonies at the event last Thursday. Dana Karney, another assistant principal, and Susan Caballero, student body president, also participated in the awards presentations.
The school’s teams in the Academic Decathlon and the countywide Mock Trial competition were recognized.
Susan Baier, chairwoman for the academic awards program committee, said the awards ceremony would not have been possible without the support and energy from the community.
Awards for outstanding students and recognition of honorable mention were presented by individual departments. They included first-year algebra, geometry, written composition, reading and literature, business, visual and performing art, social science, English, science, foreign language, and physical education.
