* “Mother’s Day”--Stephen Sachs’ new play, about a mother whose sensual past is revived when her adopted daughter brings an attractive young man home, opens Friday at Fountain Theatre.

* “The Other Bed”--The comedy, set in a retirement home where an elderly bigoted white woman’s new roommate is an African American woman, opens Friday at Century City Playhouse.
