LAGUNA BEACH
Laguna Beach resident Brynn Garrett Downey, 46, was sentenced to more than two years in prison Tuesday for distributing more than nine tons of marijuana from 1993 to 1996, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. As part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, the defendant will turn over nearly $2 million worth of Nazi memorabilia he bought with the drug money. Garrett, who had most recently been working as a Laguna Beach volunteer, faced a 10-year prison sentence, but officials said he received a more lenient sentence because he cooperated with investigators.
